- I. OVERVIEW OF THE IBMPCL3 DEVICE DRIVER
- -------------------------------------
-
- This version of the IBMPCL3 device driver should be used for best
- operation of the:
-
- IBM 4076 ExecJet II
- Lexmark 4076 Color
-
- This driver is for use with IBM OS/2 versions 1.3, 2.0 and 2.1. It operates
- the printer in Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet printer command
- language (PCL 3) mode and supports the multiple graphic resolutions, multiple
- paper sources, and download fonts available.
-
- NOTE: All workstations should have an OS/2 level of:
-
- XR05050 for 1.3 SE (1.30.2) WR05050 for 1.3 EE (1.30.2)
- XR02000 for 2.0 XR02010 for 2.1
-
- or greater. To determine your OS/2 level, type SYSLEVEL at the
- C:\ prompt in an OS/2 window or Full Screen.
-
-
- II. PREPARING THE IBMPCL3 DEVICE DRIVER
- -----------------------------------
-
- When you executed the self-extracting file, OS2PCL3.EXE, the following 6 files
- were created:
-
- SETUP.CMD PCL3D.NEA
- README.1ST (this file) PCL3H.EA
- PCL3D.EA PCL3H.NEA
-
-
- Copy the files listed above to a 1.44 MB (or larger) diskette for ease of
- installation as well as to provide an automatic backup. Do not change
- the file names when copying them to the diskette. If you receive more
- than one device driver package, the files provided with each package should
- be copied onto a separate diskette to avoid intermixing code or documentation
- files from different device driver packages.
-
- The driver was partitioned to avoid loss of vital information. You must run
- the utility, SETUP.CMD, provided in this package to reassemble the files for
- installation and use with OS/2.
-
- SETUP must be run in an OS/2 session. SETUP will not execute in a DOS window or
- on a DOS workstation. To run SETUP:
-
- 1. Switch to an OS/2 session.
-
- 2. Insert your device driver diskette containing the files listed above
- into the diskette drive.
-
- EXAMPLE: Insert diskette into drive A.
-
- 3. Make that diskette drive the current drive.
-
- EXAMPLE: Type A: and press Enter.
-
- 4. Run SETUP.
-
- EXAMPLE: Type SETUP and press Enter.
-
- 5. SETUP combines the original files into 2 new files. These files should
- only be copied using an OS/2 workstation. The driver will not install
- properly on OS/2 if the files are copied using a DOS workstation. The
- OS2PCL3.EXE and SETUP.CMD files are no longer needed and may be erased.
-
-
- The 2 files included with this package are:
-
-
- FILE SIZE DATE CONTENTS
-
- IBMPCL3.DRV 518,848 8/23/94 The Presentation Manager printer
- driver that supports PM and non-PM
- applications.
-
- IBMPCL3.HLP 47,196 8/23/94 On-line information on setup
- and use of the IBMPCL3 driver.
-
-
- 7. If you are using OS/2 version 1.3, continue with Section III.A. If
- you are using OS/2 version 2.0 or 2.1, continue with Section III.B.
- These sections contain unique steps required to properly install this
- driver. Jobs will not print UNLESS these instructions are followed.
